Mary Loyer

Mary Loyer has been an active member of the York music community for the past 29 years. She studied music at Bucknell University and received a Bachelor of Music with a concentration in violin. Her teachers there included Dorothy Boeringer and Raymond Paige. Other violin teachers Mary has studied with include Paul Windt from the New School of Music in Philadelphia and Collette Wichert of Glen Rock. Mary completed a Master of Science in Education from Wilkes University in 2008. Mary has been a member of the Andante Piano Trio for 20 years. Moreover, she has performed with orchestras such as York Symphony, Gettysburg Symphony, Gettysburg Chamber Orchestra, Baltimore Philharmonia, and the Maryland Symphony. She is currently a part time string instructor in the Red Lion Area School District.

In addition to her passion for the violin, Mrs. Loyer is an active organist in the area. Past Dean of the York Chapter of the AGO, Mary enjoys the sounds and repertoire for the organ. In particular, she is fond of contemporary music that is being written for the organ. Mary has studied organ with Gerald Mummert of East Berlin and Donald Sutherland of Peabody Institute of Baltimore. She is currently Organist/Director of Music at Grace Lutheran Church of Red Lion.

Mrs. Loyer has been a member of the York Music Teachers Association for the past 10 years. Teaching is her true passion. Mary has received recognition as a nationally certified teacher of music. Her hobbies include spending time with her husband of 32 years and raising a feral cat named Whiskers. She is currently accepting students in violin, piano, and organ.
